Professional Eye Examinations

Our comprehensive visual examinations are performed by Dr. Sandberg, Dr. Karben, and Dr. Sisson with assistance from our staff. They place great importance on doing a thorough examination to enable our patients to maintain a consistent quality of life.

Our examinations include the following:

  • Patient and family medical and visual history.

  • Retinal photos on all adults and children as needed.

  • Neurological mapping of the back of the eyes (visual fields).

  • Diagnostic evaluation of the exterior and interior health of each eye.

  • Detection of eye disease such as:

    • Glaucoma evaluation
    • Cataract check and monitoring
    • Retinal abnormalities
    • Macular degeneration
    • Infections/Allergies
    • Abrasion/Injury
  • Analysis of the eye muscle coordination in relation to near point tasks such as reading and computer work.

  • Determination of spectacle lenses or contact lenses are required to correct distance or near vision.

  • Additional tests for children who may be struggling with reading skills.

  • Consultation to review the results of the examination to recommend the eye care options that are best suited for the individual patient's lifestyle and informing the patient of good health practices and overall wellness.

  • Corneal Mapping: Mapping the surface of the cornea using medical imaging

  • Digital Retinal Imaging: Images taken of the eye to determine the existence of diseases and confirming the overall health of the eye, optic nerve, and retina.

  • Dry Eye Treatment: A treatment plan for chronic dry-eye; eyes lacking of lubrication and moisture.

  • InfantSEEĀ®: A no-cost, early-detection service of potential eye and vision problems in infants 6-12 months of age.

  • Comanagement Surgery: Working arrangements with qualified surgeons to provide services and co-manage surgery for Lasik, cataract removal, and retinal surgery.

  • Eye Emergencies: Medical attention for the eye involving incidents in which the eye might be damaged. Includes exposure to irritants, lacerations, chemicals, abrasions, blows to the eye, etc.

  • Visual Field Testing: Measuring the quality of your peripheral vision.

  • Glaucoma Testing: Measuring internal eye pressure and scanning the retina for evidence of the disease.

  • Macular Degeneration Diagnosis and Management: Prevention education, detection, and management of macular degeneration.

  • Eye Infections and Allergies: Detection and treatment for eye irritations or bacterial infections. Symptoms include red, pink, swollen, oozing, or draining eyes.

  • Computer/Technology Vision Care: Assessing needs of patients who experience eye fatigue and strain from work environments that require hours of computer or phone/pad screen-time.
